Rewarding Experience
I feel that working for a community art based program this semester was very reward and enriching spiritually for me. I hope that others in this class received a similar experience as I did. Learning to share your time with others less fortunate is very rewarding to you as well as the person that you are helping. Nothing else is more rewarding and who could ask for anything more. After this experience I would like seek out other opportunity to serve in the community throughout the year. I would recommend that everyone experience this at least once.

Just for Fun
On a lighter note, I do not eat jell-o because it moves. I need my food to be still and firm. J
Mariner's Inn
I am very happy that I participated in the Mariner’s Inn project recreating the likeness of President Obama in Domino’s. I went into the project with an open mind, and left the project changed. It was very rewarding and I also developed special friendships and new interpersonal skills that were realized by the art therapists in her exercise that she performed during the party.
Heidelberg Project
I would like to thank the students who participated in the Heidelberg Project; for the fabulous job they all did in their presentation and the information they provided about their grant proposals. I myself like the garden and art that might surround the Brewster Project. This is going to revitalize that area which is currently condemned.
Art Concepts
In talking to some of the faculty in the art building, I learned that the house adjacent to the community art/music building belongs to the music department. The name of this building is Music Annex. I think it would be a beautiful thing if someone would write a grant proposal of the use of that building. I would like seeing if the school could refurbish this building, which is not being used, and make it a building for artist and Artist in residence quarters? This building would be use to house visiting artists from around the world for the purposes of create art for one month. Because of the ideal location, this program could encompass printmakers, art majors, music, and dance. This would allow Wayne State University to become one of this nation large artist in residences programs in the world. This would take pressure the artist in trying to find affordable house while they are here for their stay here at the university. Everything that is needed is in walking, and biking distance. Other form of transportation is on them. A buy product of this is they could use the extra money to buy their art supplies or whatever.
Who's viewing it??
Although there were no art therapists in this project, the men were still able to developed social networking among themselves that is currently provide by Mariners Inn supports staff. Their many new friendships and social skills develop between the men. The social skills that were learned in the Obama project I think will help them into regaining confidence in sharing knowledge and working with each others.
It's a Celebration
On Saturday, March 28, 2011, the Mariners Inn sponsored a celebration pizza party for participants of the Obama likeness project crated in Domino’s. Those in attendance were members of the staff, two art therapists, and myself. It was very intriguing that I didn’t know many of the members of the program knew very little of each other’s personal life and background.
