Rewarding Experience
I feel that working for a community art based program this semester was very reward and enriching spiritually for me. I hope that others in this class received a similar experience as I did. Learning to share your time with others less fortunate is very rewarding to you as well as the person that you are helping. Nothing else is more rewarding and who could ask for anything more. After this experience I would like seek out other opportunity to serve in the community throughout the year. I would recommend that everyone experience this at least once.

Just for Fun
On a lighter note, I do not eat jell-o because it moves. I need my food to be still and firm. J
Mariner's Inn
I am very happy that I participated in the Mariner’s Inn project recreating the likeness of President Obama in Domino’s. I went into the project with an open mind, and left the project changed. It was very rewarding and I also developed special friendships and new interpersonal skills that were realized by the art therapists in her exercise that she performed during the party.
Heidelberg Project
I would like to thank the students who participated in the Heidelberg Project; for the fabulous job they all did in their presentation and the information they provided about their grant proposals. I myself like the garden and art that might surround the Brewster Project. This is going to revitalize that area which is currently condemned.
Art Concepts
In talking to some of the faculty in the art building, I learned that the house adjacent to the community art/music building belongs to the music department. The name of this building is Music Annex. I think it would be a beautiful thing if someone would write a grant proposal of the use of that building. I would like seeing if the school could refurbish this building, which is not being used, and make it a building for artist and Artist in residence quarters? This building would be use to house visiting artists from around the world for the purposes of create art for one month. Because of the ideal location, this program could encompass printmakers, art majors, music, and dance. This would allow Wayne State University to become one of this nation large artist in residences programs in the world. This would take pressure the artist in trying to find affordable house while they are here for their stay here at the university. Everything that is needed is in walking, and biking distance. Other form of transportation is on them. A buy product of this is they could use the extra money to buy their art supplies or whatever.
Who's viewing it??
Although there were no art therapists in this project, the men were still able to developed social networking among themselves that is currently provide by Mariners Inn supports staff. Their many new friendships and social skills develop between the men. The social skills that were learned in the Obama project I think will help them into regaining confidence in sharing knowledge and working with each others.
It's a Celebration
On Saturday, March 28, 2011, the Mariners Inn sponsored a celebration pizza party for participants of the Obama likeness project crated in Domino’s. Those in attendance were members of the staff, two art therapists, and myself. It was very intriguing that I didn’t know many of the members of the program knew very little of each other’s personal life and background.
Mariners' Project Status
“Great news,” the project is completed. The members of the Mariners Inn have completed an President Obama likeness in Domino’s. A strange think happen on the way up the hill. The residents started working together on the own to complete the project. I noticed that many of them started to develop social skills. Congratulations to all of the residents who participated in the program. I was very proud and pleased to be apart of one of Mariner’s Inn project.
Doreen Webb
“Hats off” to Doreen Webb for receive funding a full time art therapist at the Mariners Inn. This new art therapist will increase the treatment options, programs, logistics and other numerous items to mention.
Eros and Logos
What is the middle ground between Eros and logos? The different is in how you view the social market. If the society is centered around gift giving then there is a positive reciprocity. On the other hand, if the gift is trade through purchase and sale then the market controls value. The gift is fracture into a negative reciprocity. So, when gift giving increases this destroy positive reciprocity in the market because there is more but also changes negative reciprocity to in the form of lower market shares.
Practicing Art
In practicing art should we disconnect ourselves from the exploration of earning or should we defined ourselves base on the limits of our art? So what do you think? I think that historical we place ourselves in situation where we give to other because we have a passion to do so for the least of us. While they’re where others who were motivated by trading within the market quickly find out that it is subjective and also base on fashionable trend of the time.

The value of public service
The organization that I evaluated was the Mariners Inn. The purpose of the organization is to assist men who are recovering sustance abusers. The current project that we are working on is to reproduce the likilness of President Obama in dominos because it brings social interaction with members who have previously had issues with social interaction. This project teaches the members how to work together while building their self confidence.

Moe's Photo Shoot
I was very glad to do a photo shoot with Moe this past Saturday and I was able to see some of his work. I felt great pride seeing his work know his past as a recovery addict. I also think he has a crush on Tonya because he made her a special gift and she was blushing and showing everyone. How do feel when you have the opportunity to view work that others have created when you know that they have had a less than favorable past?
Connections with Peers
It is very important to connect with your peers because you have to learn to work in teams. Recently we had our first experience with working with the residents at the Mariners Inn and I found it very rewarding. I found that most of the residents displayed a sense of pride and satisfaction when completing their President Obama project. They also had very good input regarding how working as a team will help get the project done in a better than individually. What are your views of working as a team? Do you feel that working together is useful in order to get a variety of input?
Natural Born Leader
When visiting the Mariners Inn it was very refreshing to see that the staff empowers its employees to take ownership of the facilities and themselves in the recovery of the social system in the United States. It was nice to see that Moe had taken steps to get his life in order and encouraged others in the facility to step up and do more for themselves. Moe did this using an artist view and hopes that the others will find something to encourage them to take the necessary steps to better their lives. How do you feel about giving a person a second chance?
Causes and Concerns
When writing your business plan one of the most important features or aspect of the plan it to make sure you research the featured organization and have knowledge of the cause that you are writing about. It is an injustice if you make a false business plan that doesn't apply to the real world. If your plan is false or fictitious you have just done a injustice to the organization that you were working for. How do you feel about this, should we do a real plan or do you feel that you can gain information from a fictitious plan?
Modernism
Who does modernism serve first? Is it the people who defend abstraction or the detractors who believe that Art must serve some type of useful purpose that is required by society? I believe that the perception of modernist Art is govern by the action we perceive and not on the idea that come from learned experiences found in the marketplace. What are your views on this???
